Many Species, One Planet, One Future.
On the occasion of 'World Environment Day', 5th June 2010, the Nature Club of the College joined hands with the rest of the world to commemorate this important day. Different activities aimed at creating awareness of the need to protect and preserve the environment were organised. These included a Poster Campaign, Debate and Quiz Competitions. The topic chosen for the debate was one which was and still is on the public consciousness and that is the Shillong Bye Pass and its impact on the environment and the poeople. The Debate revealed the interest and the concern that the younger generation have in making Shillomg, the state and the world a more greener place and society more responsible. The Quiz contest tested the general knowledge and environmental awareness of the students. The response to the quiz competition was overwhelming and positive. As part of its objective to make the campus green, the Nature Club also put up traditional bamboo 'khohs' and 'stars' at various spots in the college campus to serve as 'Use Me' dustbins for the maintainance of a hygienic and clean atmosphere in the campus.
The Nature Club hopes to motivate and generate a keen interest among the students about the urgent need of conserving the environment and quality of life.
