Felicitation Ceremony

A Felicitation Ceremony was conducted on the 18th of June 2010 at 2:00 pm in the College Auditorium for the successful outgoing Class XII students (Arts, Science and Commerce) who had cleared the HSSLC Examination 2010. The Felicitation Committee of the College conducted the Ceremony and the Chief Guest who graced the occasion was Ms. M. Iawphniaw, Post Master General (North Eastern Circle). The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, assisted by the Principal, Sister. Isabella Kyrsian, and the coordinator of the Felicitation Committee, Dr. (Mrs). B. Bhattacharjee. The College Choir sang a welcome song and this was followed by a prayer service conducted by Ms. M. War. In her address Sister. Isabella enlightened the students about the essential tools that each student should carry as they continued with their onward journey in life; these tools being individual uniqueness, faith in life, acknowledgment of the gift of creativity, making positive choices consciously and gratitude built on optimism and inspiration. After the Principal’s address, the master of ceremony, Ms. Naomi Nonglait conducted the felicitation ceremony where the teachers of the various streams presented their respective students. The students read out the pledge and took an oath to always carry the torch of the college motto “Virtue and Knowledge” wherever and whenever possible. Sister Isabella then admitted and charged the students that they show themselves worthy of the same. The Chief Guest then distributed mementos and certificates issued from the College and the Directorate Higher and Technical Education to the Rank Holders. The Chief Guest, in her speech, spoke about the importance of empowering the girl child through education and this would directly empower society as a whole. She advised the students not to waste time or opportunity and instead work towards bringing honour and pride to society. She also offered the assistance of the Postal Department in their endeavor. The students of the respective streams in their speeches expressed their deep sense of gratitude towards the dedication shown by the teachers in educating them. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. (Mrs) A. R. Laloo, after which refreshments were served to the Chief Guest, the teachers and students.
