An Orientation Programme for the First semester students of Home Science, Computer Science and Commerce Departments was held on 29th June, 2016 in the College Auditorium with the objective of creating a welcoming environment for students, making them aware of the rules and regulations as well as giving them direction and guidance for a smooth transition to the College. The event was attended by the Principal, Dr.Sr.Mary Harriet, and the faculty of the three departments, student volunteers, new entrants and their parents. The Programme started with a reading from the Bible and prayer by Milti Mawlong, BCom third year student followed by a welcome address from Mr. S. Dey, Asst. Prof.of Commerce Department. The Principal, Dr. Sr. Mary Harriet, in her speech, presented a brief profile of the College and highlighted the excellent academic performance and accomplishments of its students. The BSc Home Science Students performed a powerful and brilliant rendition of the song ‘I believe I can fly’ which was followed by a briefing of rules and regulations by Mrs.C.Pyngrope, Asst. Prof. of Home Science Department. In their introductory speech, the Heads of the three departments, Mrs. N. James of Home Science, Mr. S. Gurung of Computer Science and Mrs. M Wankhar (on behalf of the Head of the Department of Commerce) presented an overview of the three disciplines, the academic design and job opportunities. Students’ representatives of the three departments also shared their inspiring and memorable experiences in the College. A motivational video on ‘How to be the Best’ was played in order to inspire new students to be the best in whatever they do and to remind them of the indomitable human spirit. The Programme ended with a vote of thanks from Mr. D.Debnath, Asst. Prof. of Computer Science Department followed by the National Anthem led by BSc Home Science students. The Programme was compered by Ms.B.Paul Asst. Prof. of Computer Science Department.
